It's April 2003,Ibis had beaten Cartmel in the Junior Cup Final 2 weeks previous but this time it was our turn to feel the pain, losing 1-0 to Kendal Town in the Mason & freeman Cup Final at Burneside. The team played really well on the night but unlike the J Cup Final, when we won on penalties, lady luck did not shine on us & we lost by the odd goal against very strong opponents. The hurt shows on all the players & supporters faces.
Alan Gilpin(the Mexican) proudly holds the Junior Cup after Ibis beat Cartmel on penalties in the final of 2003 at Parkside.Stephen Knowles (scorer of the winning pen.) & Armi are getting all romantic at the thought of all that free beer Fred has bought them.
We have the awards at the end of each season,a lot of thought is put into who deserves a tropy, obviously performance on the pitch helps but effort, commitment & training are also good points which often decide the final selection.Pictured at the 2000/01 presentation evening are the seasons winners,LtoR S Dixon,G Burns,A Williams,S Gilpin,P Dixon,S Park & J Todhunter.
Congratulations to Stu & Tracy on the birth of baby Connor 20/12/05,also to grandparents Dave & Carol,& me & Jean
WHAT A SHOWER
Chris & Liam share their pre-match nerves by Brylcreaming each others hair in the showers, not the normal pre-match ritual but it seems to work for them
TODDY & TOM SHARE THE HONOURS,STU FALLS TO THE POWER
The first(annual??)Ibis FC Table Tennis,Pool & Darts knockouts were held at the club on Sunday 27th Nov.It was a good afternoon/evening,many thanks to Andy & Gilps(and anyone else who helped)for organising it & Carol for going for the much needed chips.Biggest shocks of the evening were Andrew(Hustler)Armistead & Stuart(pong ping)Gilpin both falling to Tom(I need some booze for Xmas)Hayton in the Pool & Table Tennis semi-finals.The Table Tennis & Pool were of a really good standard, darts not quite as good,in fact some couldn't hit a pigs arse with a shuffle, but all tried & it was left to me and Stu to fight it out in the final in which experience & pressure told(I would have got the John Smiths anyway).Pool & Table Tennis finals were both fought out by Tom Hayton & James Todhunter & both were close fought affairs,Tom having to give way to Toddy in the pool but revenge was quick & sweet as Tom took the Table Tennis honours.Attendance was good but a few more next year would be great, thanks again to Andy Hayton.
Some photos from Liams 2nd do at Preston,Bamber poses on sunset beach Arnside,he's funny but not as funny as his dad!!!Gilps,Andy & Munch show they've no false teeth,it's getting late & the lads are pairing up.
Congratulations to Liam on his 21st & thanks for the party,if you didn't know he scored(a goal) on saturday which went from 20yards at 7pm to 45yards at midnight.A good goal though & a good night, cheers to Liam,Carlo for the pics & Elvis Longcake, superb.
So much to say about this pic so I put it in topics...Junior Cup final 1988 on Parkside. We played County Res in semi, drawing 1-1 in injury time,I block tackled Ray Garnett in penalty area, penalty, couldn't believe it,into the top corner it went, but no,Martin Bell miraculously clawed it out from under the bar to earn a replay on Jubilee which we won.In the final we were outstanding against a good Corinthians Res side & very unluckily lost 1-0 having had a perfectly good goal dissallowed. The team was Back Row LtoR..B Procter,M(F)Dixon,C Beatty,W Billington,N Wake,N Aplin,J Greenop(snr)Front Row..M Bell,I Mitchell,P Dixon,K Stobbart,A Lishman,A Clarke.
In the later 1980s things weren't quite as good as now, just me & Frank running the club(or keeping it going),in this photo the council hadn't even marked the Jubilee,so I hired Jean(at a low cost),to line the pitch while I marked it out, good teamwork!!
A BIG congratulations to Andrew Armistead & Jen on the birth of their baby daughter Lola,Army says he's looking forward to a few sleepless nights!!
at the end of season 04/05 the reserves travelled to appleby,a mixed bunch without Andy Hayton,Popeye Davies is on the back row,Willy has the flag!!Neil Wilson is in the wall,Parky's been painting,it's Army's ball,Macky's lost weight,Craig(where's he gone)looks for the camera. We won 1-0
Fresh back from Amsterdam after making a new X rated version of animal farm are(if you can't recognise them)Gary Taylor as scooby poo,Graham Carlos as panda,Jamie Mitchell as the dog(woof woof) & Neil Hartley as the Lion(growl),can't tell if they're male or female but one or two were walking funny on saturday
Scooby Taylor proudly models his new woman pulling outfit "all set for passions" he says"bring 'em on"..Shaggy Knowles looks on in disbelief.
Izabella, from Goldfingers strip club in Prague says good luck Dingle on your wedding.Joannes a lucky woman,he should be called BULLWANG.
Andrew Armistead targeted by jose Mourinho to replace John Terry after his shock move to Ibis from Chelsea. Mike Packham says if he gets my spot my dad said you can't train on the field. We never trained there anyway said Zidane.
Rumours that Steve Longcake is to join the Simpsons as a replacement for Sideshow Bob have been vigorously denied by Crusty the Clown. There's no-one dafter than me in this show,he said. DOH said Homer Chadwick.
During a period of Ibis pressure Dingle gives goalkeeping tips to John Greenop, from the days when he was keeper for Knotty Ash.
Congratulations & Best Wishes to Andy Davies(Dingle) & Joanne on their wedding 21/05/05.A good day & night at the Tufton Arms Hotel,Appleby,.was had by all. These views show..Newlyweds Andy & Joanne outside church just after the ceremony,Parky & Andy are shocked at the news that Hannah has been named as Ibis footballers wife for season 2004/05(but drink stops them voicing there opinion),unimpressed by Hannahs news Gilps trains his new young hopefuls on the correct way to do the Maccerena.

The first teams squad to face Graystoke on 8th Oct 05.Stepping up from the 2nd Xl were J Mitchell,T Hayton,N Wilson,A Hayton,P Hetherington & S Longcake.S Jones already in squad from last week. After an excellent first half performance, going in 1-0 up,unfortunately we faded a bit 2nd half & lost 2-1,but the 2nd team lads performed well, proud of them.
Tonight 30/6/05 the club were in front of Westmorland FA commitee over the Neil Wake incident in January(when the case against Neil was not proved)The club however were found guilty of-- I don't really know--possibly failure to control a spectator,or member of the club.Neil is not an official of the club however if he was the case was found not proved 5 months ago.We seem to have been found guilty of something that didn't officially happen. As Parky said the night before "the hammers down".....Fined £25 & warned to future conduct.Unbelievable!!
With the closure of the Jubilee & the state of the Axa field, this season(2004/05) has been difficult for everyone. As a club,we played just eleven games on the Millenium Field, all other league & cup games being played either at Frenchfields,Penrith or away on the oppositions pitch. That's well over three-quarters of the clubs fixtures.I know it's been a pain in the arse to have to travel all over the county, especially for night games so I would like to thank everyone for getting us through the matches, both by making yourselves available & taking cars to the games.I would also like to thank the clubs who have let us use their grounds(although it did give away home advantage) & Frenchfields at Penrith(wish it was in Kendal). Finally I would like to thank Mike Packham(snr) for the use of the field to train on,pity we never used it fully,it wasn't Siberia you know,in fact I think when players got used to the travelling it was OK after all.
Thanks to everyone who came on sunday to the season 2004/05 awards evening.I would like to especially thank..Andy,Tom & Westy for once again organising the night, another success,Andy & Toms mum for the buffet & Chris for the disco, also thanks to the people who helped me through the season...Andy & Steve for doing the 2nd team,Frank for keeping me level(as usual)& doing a great job as secretary(in a more difficult than normal season)Alan for running the line every week, Neil for his help & support all through the year,Macky,Gilps & John for their work on the shower unit,Jean & Steve for doing the kits & Jeff Taylor,John Ellwood,Dave Wilson,Mike Wightman,Brian Longcake & Carol & Hannah for their support at matches this season.
This Seasons Awards were close to call,no real outstanding favourites, all players performing well at times throughout the year. The Awards were as follows...1st Team Player of the Year,M Packham.2nd Team Player of the Year,S Longcake.1st Team Players Player,C Ellwood.2nd Team Players Player,A Armistead.1st Team Man of the Match.S Knowles.2nd Team Man of the Match,P Hetherington.1st Team Most Improved,G Carlos.2nd Team Most Improved,N Wilson.Young Player of the Year,A Carradus.Special Awards & Thanks to N Westmorland & R Foster(both rumoured to be finishing)for their service to Ibis FC.There are also rumours that a club has tried to Poach one or two of our players,I believe Mike Packham & Gaz Taylor have been asked, well,I can understand it,they are good players along with quite a few more at Ibis,I really hope they stay with us.As for Poaching I here that on toast Poached Packham is rather a delicacy around Docker.
I have had an E-mail from Richard O'Toole & Dave Pattinson saying they are discusted that they have not been mentioned on this web site(fatal)..& rightly so who could ever forget Patty's turn of speed, electrifying pace & complete command of midfield...& Tooly's command of the air, crunching tackles & a master of missed chances. Thanks to them both for jogging my memory,if anyone else feels worthy of a mention please get in touch..Fred
